Emma-Jane Brown became a top class international show-jumper following her training with the late and highly-respected Caroline Bradley. Her career moved into the ascendancy when she joined the celebrated Everest team under the tutelage of the legendary Ted and Liz Edgar. She later formed a successful sponsorship partnership with Bond International and Tina Cassan when the two riders became known as The Bond Girls.
Emma first hit the sporting headlines in 1984 at the age of 20 when she won the Ladies National Championship of Great Britain. Three years later she secured the coveted Foxhunter Championship on her world famous horse Oyster at Wembley Arena. In 1989 she became the first female show-jumper to compete on the American Fall Circuit when, as part of the British Nations Cup team, she won the World Cup qualifier.
In 1990 Emma added the prestigious Queen Elizabeth II Cup to her string of titles and regained the Ladies National Championship of Great Britain in both 1995 and 1996. She was selected by the international committee to represent Great Britain in the Nations Cup a staggering 13 times and was the highest ranked female rider for many years, recognised as an esteemed ambassador for the country.
Since her retirement from show-jumping, Emma has worked on radio, as a commentator for both Sky Sports and Eurosport and contributor to a number of lifestyle magazines covering equestrianism and social and sporting events. She has also worked tirelessly on behalf of a number of charities including Heart UK and Riding for the Disabled Association where she met Karen Law – Britain’s first blind show jumper who she mentors. She is also campaigning to encourage more people into the sport through unaffiliated competitions like Arena UK and to help Britain’s para equestrians.
Two years ago, Emma climbed Kilimanjaro to raise funds for children suffering from brain tumours. For her services to charity in Malta, which included teaching equestrianism there, Emma was honoured with a Knighthood. In October 2015 EJB Events became a sponsor of the prestigious Pride of Sports awards.
As a businesswoman committed to make her sport safer, Emma developed REVO – her own range of protective equestrian clothing for children. However her primary business is EJB Events – a private concierge and events company. EJB Events lays on sporting and social occasions for high net worth individuals.
